Recently, some of our readers reported that the Apache2 error log client was rejected by the server config.
Updated
A “Client rejected by server configuration” failure usually results in the ability to allow and deny instructions that prevent access somewhere in your configuration.
This error is usually caused by the fact that access to the corresponding directory containing the filesystem has been denied by some fancy Apache installation.
Apache 2.4 HTTP Server Notes
In version 2.4, significant changes have been made to all authorization and authentication processes. Released version users should read this mapping in order to migrate their old configuration files.

What is Authz_core error?
September 21, September 20 at 7:23 am cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/HTTPD/…: “This error means that access to a directory in the file system was denied by the Apache configuration. “
Before attempting to modify the current configuration file, note the full path to the system file that is now denied access, as well as the client’s IP address and hostname:
Using the correct directory block path for the following examples we’ve covered is critical to solving this problem. If it denies the localized computer client (:: 1) access to /var/www/example.com.
Troubleshooting
- Access denied due to explicit Deny directive (2.2) or directive (2.4) must be in the directory block and for the .htaccess file.
In the examples above, the read config fixes the problem:
- Attempting to access a directory outside of the DocumentRoot defined by an alias without a matching directory block
- A proxy for a service without explicit access in a location block.
- PUT request received; 403 is the most important standard answer. Access can be granted in combination with the limitexcept (2.2) or mod_allow (2.4) methods.
- A mixture of the allow (2.2) and require (2.4) directives, and the use of Apache HTTPD 2.4, which are used in identical or separate directory blocks. The most recent 2.4 directives should be used, and simply unload the mod_access_compat module by commenting out the LoadModule directive.
- Using mod_security with an explicit directive to deny access. Or edit unwanted instruction comments with this add-on to resolve the issue.
- Bandwidth or module bandwidth usage that limits, for example, mod_evasive, mod_limitipconn, or mod_bw. Out-of-the-box firewall is much more efficientlimits bursts of internet traffic and misuses customers.
Warning
The correct configuration can be in your main HTTPD Apache configuration; its purpose is to prevent unauthorized access to the root directory of the entire file system. In no case should you change it. Instead, the existing directory must be changed to the full file system path, or a new one must actually be created if it did not exist previously.
Restrict Access A Little More
While granting full access to the resource in question is not an option, specific IP addresses, component IP addresses, netmasks, and CIDR criteria can be used with authorization and authorization requirements. ‘
How do I fix client denied server configuration?
Delete all the lines “Deny, Allow Work”, “Allow Work, Deny” and any associated lines.Replace “Reject All” with “Request All Rejected”.Replace “Allow use of all” to “Require all permissions”.If the person resolves a specific hostname, update it accordingly.
If you are using Apache 2.4 and above, you may receive the following error message. This mostly happens after update bOlder version of Apache.
For example, if you later upgraded Apache 2.2 to the latest version, you might get this whole error message below.
AH01630: client due to device configuration rejection: / home / myapp / server /
In my case, I currently had the following configuration in httpd.conf that worked without issue prior to updating.

# vi httpd.confAlias / server / "/ home / myapp / server /"Parameters index multiple views AllowOverride No Reject order, allow Allow everyone
After further research, I discovered that outside of Apache 2.4, there have been some changes in the way the control is accessed, as described in this Apache document.
What is Access_compat error?
An error rejected by the customer by the server configuration means that access to the service specified in the protocol has been denied by the Apache configuration.
In my last example, I created Request All Requirements and it started doing its job correctly.
# vi httpd.confAlias / server / "/ home / myapp / server /"Index of MultiViews Options AllowOverride no Ask what's approved
- Remove all of the reject order, allow, approve, reject, and then all related lines.
- Replace “Reject All” with “Request All Rejected”
- Replace “Authorize All” with “Authorize All”
- If you are resolving the hostname, change it accordingly. For example, remove “Allow 192.168.1.2” from “Requires web hosting provider 192.168.1.2”
