In some cases, your computer may display an error code indicating that the CD will be burned in Windows XP. There can be several reasons for this error.

Before copying information to a CD (called “burning”) in Windows XP, you need a special blank CD-R or CD-RW that you can support. The only difference between the two is that CD-Rs can only be recorded in advance, while CD-RWs can be recorded multiple times. Both types of media support up to 700 MB of data.

If you are inserting a blank CD-R as well as a CD-RW in Windows XP, a dialog box should appear where you can choose to open the burn folder The CD you need. If you want Windows XP to always save the CD-recordable folder in Windows when you connect blank media (CD-R or CD-RW), make sure the Always perform the selected action check box is selected.

When you click OK, the Will folder opens into which you can drag the computer or folders you want to copy to the CD. When you drag a database or folder into this folder, Windows XP copies it to another dedicated staging area until it can be burned to a CD. If you change your mind and delete almost all files or folders in any writable folder, they will simply disappear from the staging area. The original documents or records remain on some systems.

When you’ve finished adding almost all of the file folders and want to burn them to a writable folder, select Burn These Files to CD from the large taskbar on the left. A wizard will start to guide you through the process of creating the CD. On the corresponding first screen, you can give your CDname (up to 16 characters).

Click Next and the wizard can display a progress bar to inform everyone about the amount of data recently copied to the CD.

Once the process is complete, you will receive a notification in a dialog box and you will have the opportunity to make additional copies.

In classic times (two years ago), every PC had a CD-ROM drive. Most modern PCs have a burner, CD-ROM, large drive, into which you can burn new CDs of your own material.

If your PC has such a drive, either put in a CD-R (a recordable CD, i.e. you can burn each disc only once), or get a CD-RW (a rewritable CD for which you can order CDs) – RW discs (which you can erase and rewrite as many times as you want), you will be spoiled. When you first use Windows XP, you can back up your CDs full of files and folders without the need to purchase programmaticallysoftware such as Roxio’s Easy CD Creator.

This is because Windows XP includes Easy CD Creator (tracks it created). This is a great feature for Macintosh backups, chatting, sending emails, or sharing directories (the resulting CDs remain cross-platform).

If your computer has a CD burner, insert your own blank CD first. Provides open windows where you can simply open a dedicated CD burning window, which is a kind of temporary waiting room for files that customers want to copy to CD (Figure 4-13, top left).

Now Windows, which personal files and folders you want to copy to it in one of three ways:

In the new case, Windows now copies files and folders to a temporary invisible storage tank folder. (If you score at home, then this file is located on the local hard drive C :). the size of the files themselves on my CD.

When you’re done, click on the “Burn a few of these files to CD” link on p Workspace (top right in Figure 4-13), otherwise select File … Files on CD.

The CD Burning Wizard appears, as shown in Fig. See Figure 4-13 below, which walks you through the process of naming a new CD and burning the disc.

Ordinary Windows Power end users, of course, don’t care. You can only get by with a commercial CD burning program, you burn MP3 music CDs, create mixed mode CDs (which contain both music and additional files), create video CDs (inferior video CDs). discs stored on DVD players), etc. is activated.

However, if you specifically use the recorder for quick backups, long-term storage, or sending large files to other computers, a minimal amount of free software will be very helpful.

If you have disabled this feature, you can open the CD window yourself: open My Computer and double-click the CD icon.

  Look around your hard drive and find the correct computer and folders on the CD. Drag icons to an open window, CD or CD icon in My Computer.

• Select the files and therefore the folders you are in to burn the CD. Select File – Copy. Click the CD glass, then select File – Paste to copy the footage.

• Explore your hard drive. Every time users find a folder or folder that you backed up, for example, right-click it. From the Technology menu, select the Send to CD option.

This all includes copying everyday computer data files to a CD. If you want to burn music CDs, do not use this method; Use Windows Media Player instead. (See Section 8.3.5.1 for more details.)

Tip

Remember that a traditional CD can contain a maximum of six hundred and fifty MB files. To make sure your clips and folders are holding up well, periodically highlight the icons on the CD windshield in My Computer (choose Edit Select All). Then, review the information in the specific field in the task pane to ensure that the total file size is within acceptable limits.

Note

If you are using a CD-RW disc (that is, a disc that can be ejected and rewritable), you cannot change the disc name after the first recording. However, you can still replace content using the methods described here.
