How To Fix A Bad SNMP Response

Hello everyone. I have also worked on monitoring BEA WebLogic with its SNMP agent. Since 161 already uses the Windows SNMP agent all over the place, I configured Weblogic to use port 16100. One OID in particular is giving me a hell of a headache.

    cacti snmp troubleshooting

This is a graph, but in case the app is loaded (and your only current time when this counter shows data> 1) there will be persistent gaps in traffic. Other Weblogic counters on the same machine have slightly more deviations per day, but very rarely.

After entering debug mode I see a lot at 03:35:50 this:

03/17/2006 PM – CMDPHP: Poller [0] Host [8] DS [156] WARNING: Inconsistent SNMP result. Partial result: 03:35:50

Does Cacti actually generate a “u” value when it gets a very confusing answer? How else can I fix errors for which I am not recovering data, sometimes for a longer period of time?

U means that snmp poll did not return any data during polling.

Is BEA WebLogic running on a server? windows If so, then this is probably a serious problem with Windows as I have seen widows not responding to snmp requests from disk under load. If not, you should discuss your SNMP issue with BEA.

Have you checked this SNMP request with net-snmp snmpget multiple times on a new line while the WebLogic application is actually loaded to make sure it is not interacting with data?

No, Cacti SNMP polling shows Return home value “U”.

I can’t seem to find a better way to get net-snmp to request a non-standard functional port … I’m using a cell phone iReasoning MIB to provide a secondary request for all the same OIDs. There are no errors in the returned reports. 1 and 0.

It cannot upgrade to Windows because in general all the Windows OIDs that I track (via SNMP informant) have no skips and look fine. I must first make sure that there is absolutely nothing wrong with what I experience with Cacti. Once I see that the third party monitoring software has been positively mentioned by the overseas BEA technical support team, it’s over. They will have more than a stone wall, and they will say that this is not their crisis … : evil:

If my other SNMP probe returned normal numbers, then why would Cacti show the return value of all “U” s? Is it possible that Cacti is definitely not performing well with two SNMP sockets on the same server? Since I am monitoring Informant SNMP OIDs at 161 and WebLogic OIDs at 16100?

U-Simple-Technik-Kakteen did not receive any data. also known as indefinite. Your device has not been returned by trusted U. Use over-the-air to prove it to yourself in a positive way.

As for net-snmp on the port, it is not appended to the default IP address. those. snmpget -v 1 -c Population 127.0.0.1:16100 OID

Cacti should work fine with a lot of different port numbers. You can see that sometimes it was always due to some data actually being returned.

You can use something like STG or To Getif to track this OID, which should give you problems. Alternatively, configure it to query oid frequently and see if there are gaps in the data.

Is the Weblogic server on the local network? Otherwise, your company may want to increase the device latency in cactus and php.ini.

    Who’s Really Online?

I have installed cacti packages, not to mention snmpd packages on a Debian server. I show cacti on a very raCommon chart (eg memory usage, load average, registered users, etc.) using price data models such as Unix. Now I would like to re-calibrate these plots with the ones used by SNMP datasources as I see there is indeed some CPU usage and since this is unlikely to be ruled out I will have to manage multiple hosting companies in the future.

So, I installed snmpd from the machine and left snmpd.conf on the ground that it is. Cacti, I’ve created some great new datasources from SNMP templates with host 127.0.0.1:

    • ucd / net – CPU Usage – Good
    • ucd / net – CPU Usage – System
    • ucd / net – CPU usage – I am using

Next, create a single chart from the ucd / net template – CPU Usage and select all three data sources up to the Chart Element Fields section. The schedule is now considered activated and completed, but empty. There was no data. Console

under -> Devices my SNMP host is listed as active and active:

      System: Linux ip-xx-xx-xxx-xxx 3.2.0-23-virtual SMP # 36-ubuntu Tue Apr 10 22:29:03 UTC 2012 x86_64Battery Life: 929267 (0 days, 2 hours, 34 minutes)Hostname: ip-xx-xx-xxx-xxxLocation: Sitting on the dock of the bay.Contact us: me [email protected]
    • SNMP version: version 1
    • SNMP Community: Public
    • SNMP Timeout: OID 500ms
    • Maximum per restore request: 10

In Console -> Utilities -> Cacti Log I have multiple warnings every 5 minutes (two for both data sources):
