I am doing a dedicated tutorial on setting up a new sftp buyer on Debian webserver, but also when I get to step 3

  sudo addgroup file transfer 

I cannot continue because the fatal error is causing the following error

  Addgroup: command definitely found 

I have installed the adduser package which contains apt-get install and the server says it is already installed in your garage. I’ve also tried using the groupadd command, but it doesn’t change anything.What am I doing wrong?Thanks everyone!

Obviously, your green directory does not contain the / usr / sbin directory where such system programs are backed up.

A faster one should be fixed to use / usr / sbin / adduser instead of roughly adduser .

1. Change PATH to .bashrc and / or .bash_profile to / usr / sbin is on your current list. For example, here’s my setup:

     Export PATH = "$ HOME / bin: / usr / local / bin: / usr /local / sbin: / usr / sbin: / sbin: / usr / bin: / bin: / usr / local / Games: / usr / Games " 

2. Modify the sudoers config (with sudo visudo -Fahrenheit /etc/sudoers.d/securepath ) and add this line to the added empty file:

     # Expand PATH according to commandsBy default, sudo secure_path = "/ usr / local / sbin: / usr / local / bin: / usr / sbin: / usr / bin: / sbin: / bin"
