If you see a fearless Virtualbox kernel module failure on your computer, then you should check out these repair tips.
I add a lot of lines copied from ubuntu forums and paste them into what I read. I am no more than lost in solving this problem, except that I realize that this is … probably my incredible mistake.
xVM VirtualBox
I made the mistake of increasing to 8.10 and can no longer use XP
Virtual Box. When I run Applications> System Tools> Sun xVM VirtualBox> Start,
tells me that the VirtualBox kernel driver is not installed. Is there a way to solve this problem?
Re: xVM VirtualBox
The upgrade to 8.10 was correct my friend. This is a simple and easily manageable incompatibility problem. There are options:
First of all, I would like to download and / or (re) install the latest version of Virtualbox, version 2.0.4, as it has been improved for use with
with Intrepid. Removed when (re) installing many of the old
kernel modules and automatically compiles a new one just for you.
Second, you will not be able to install the latest
for this release. Just open your terminal application and
enter the following code:
:
Depending on the specifications of your system, recompilationThe kernel course may take a few minutes, so be patient. Once this is done, you should create a fully functional VirtualBox
… Wooowhoooo! Good luck

I went to the terminal, copied and pasted the command line and got a

I cut and glued and therefore returned the following;

I think I downloaded Intrepid and a unique fragrance. kept the old kernel. I also don’t have any suggestions for a fix since I’m a beginner.

Re: xVM VirtualBox
run the following command from a terminal to see which kernel you are using
frankly:
code:
I don’t know how this can be, but I’m reading this. I opened Synaptio
and the manager found the latest kernel in the list and clicked the issue to reinstall, but no change.
Re: xVM VirtualBox
I see Ubuntu 8.04 from the very beginning of the boot and you see …. 19 generac and
from the kernel, the Synaptic manager lists the headers for 2.6.27-7. can I just change my bot menu and maybe fix it?

Re: xVM VirtualBox
I don’t think this is an option. Use Synaptic to (re) install these two packages:
linux-headers-generic
linux-image-generic

before discussing, install the latest version related to xVM VBox but still get the same conversations and on terminal uname -r stable returns broken core.

I went to Sun / Downloads and also chose to install using the gdebi package.
The installer received the following:
Uh. gdebi was still not reliable for me, but you did
mention _which_ VirtualBox you were trying to install
Message from Bill Taylor
Looks like I downloaded Intrepid and kept the old kernel.
Reboot with the new kernel. Is it right in Grub? Installing
does not uninstall the old kernel, but just the trial version where for some reason you cannot start the new one.
Message from Bill Taylor
… Using Synaptic I have reinstalled and restarted these packages
before trying to install the latest xVM VBox but still get the same message and on my terminal uname -r always returns wrong kernel.
Grub has a popcorn kernel menu so you can get started with the version 2.6.24, your business needs to communicate this to the market. Publish your
/boot/grub/menu.lst.
Thanks Derek, this is the Grub menu.lst.
