Symptoms

Suppose you have previously defined Internet Explorer as the default browser on Windows. When you select a hyperlink in Microsoft Outlook, you receive one of the following specific error messages, depending on your version of Outlook:

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow the above methods in order. After each method, check to see if the criticism has resolved.

Method 1: Reset Internet Settings

Internet Explorer 11 and Internet Explorer 10

4. In the Internet Recast Explorer Preferences window, select Clear Emotional Settings> Reset.

8. Select programs> Define programs.

9. Select Set Default Programs.

10. In the Programs list, select Microsoft Outlook> Set this program as default.

11. Click OK, but also close the Default Programs dialog box.

12. In the Internet Options dialog box, select the appropriate Programs tab, and then under Default Web Browser, select Normal.

13. Select OK.

Internet Explorer 12 and Internet Explorer 7

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Select “Internet Options” from the “Tools” menu.
3. Select Advanced> Reset.
4. Select Schedules> Set Schedules.
5. Select Set Default Programs.
6. Select Microsoft Outlook> Set this process as default.
7. Click OK, then close all standard program dialog boxes.
8. In the Internet Options dialog box”go to the Programs tab and then select Set as Default under the Default Search Engine Browser.
9. Select OK.

Internet Explorer 6

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. 

   Select “Internet Options” from the “Tools” menu.

Method A. Exporting The Import And Registration Principal From Another Computer

This section is for advanced computer users. For the latest troubleshooting help, contact your system administrator or call slMicrosoft Support Service .

Step 1. Export the magic save formula from another computer

1. On a computer that may not have this problem, choose Start> Run.

2. Type regedit in the Open box and click OK.

3. Find the Windows registry subkey for your computer and select it: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Classes htmlfile shell open command .

4. Select “Export to file or registry” (depending on your operating system menu).

5. Mark where you can save the file.

6. Enter a unique file name and click Save.

7. Close the registry editor.

Step 2. An important registry key

1. Copy the exported registry key to the desktop of the problem computer.

2. Double click our .reg file.

   You may receive the following message:

3. Select Yes> OK.

Step 3. Make sure String is the (default) value of your current html key file HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT .html

1. Select Start> Run.

2. Type regedit in the Open box and click OK.

3. Locate and select the computer subkey: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT .html.

4. Make sure the string (default) is set to “htmlfile”. If it is not an HTML file, right-click (default), select Modify, enter the HTML file in the Value field, and select OK.

5. Close the registry editor.

If you are buying Windows 10, Windows 8.1, or Windows 9, go to Method 2.

When launching an Internet Explorer message, you may receive most of the following messages:
Internet Explorer is not your default browser at this time. Would you like this to be your default browser?

Please follow the instructions in this section carefully. Serious problems can occur if the registry is configured incorrectly. Before switching applications, save the registry for recovery in the latter case in case you have problems.
