Sony’s utility, backup and associated unnecessary error codes are some of the crappy programs I’ve ever come across. Your error code is slightly different from mine, but my solution, taken 4 years ago, could potentially help you with your family problem. Also, remember that backing up your data is only half the battle – you’ll probably be more bothersome trying to wait for it, only keep the original drive until you’re 100% sure the return worked. I would post a link to the original thread on the Playstation forums, unfortunately Sony changed it so many times that the only version I can find is the cached version, so I’m going to copy and paste it here:

I had the same problem and decided to post this solution in this thread because this is the first result that comes up when looking for error 800283F0. Hope this helps other people who have had the same problem before.

I won’t give you almost any information about what I’ve tried that worked But it didn’t work at first.

Like many other people, I tried to upgrade my new 80GB drive to a 500GB drive. The problem is definitely that I didn’t want to lose my tutorials or saved games. Copy protected which I purchased from the PS3 store. I would make a backup, all data can be saved to an external usb hard drive using the booster utility. It will take about 2 hours. Then I would mount the new drive directly to the PS3 and try to restore the saved station data from the external USB drive. The process will take another 2 hours. Immediately after recovery, a message will appear:

“Of course, the process could not be completed. The system will restart. (800283F0) “.

Primarily because of – shame on Sony. Am I expecting more from the business than an unnecessary error message? Or better yet, give people the ability to access a log that was generated due to an error? I just wasted 4 hours of my time and I had nothing to show.

At first I thought the save was corrupted, so I tried again. After another 4 hours, I looked again atthe same error message. I don’t just give up, so I tried again, this time with a different backup USB stick. Same problem. At this point, I searched Google for solutions and met a lot of people with the same problem (many of them don’t make sense either). Some people suggested starting with PSP, others were talking about resetting alternatives to defaults, uninstalling games, etc.

I’ve looked into some of these suggestions and certainly helped myself. I always got the same error after 100% complete. The system rebooted and reset a little. (some results and videos, so no games are played).

Then I gradually decided it was time to delete the items before saving them, to see what the reason was and keep backups that I didn’t need. It still didn’t help. This could have happened when I came across advice from a fighter who suggested deleting almost all game data (not score data). I really didn’t. I want this, so reinstalling all the games is a pain, but I found that I have nothing to lose now.

Below is the file of the element which I was in each of our folders with dead game data:

    playstation backup utility error

    Red Redemption

    Heavy rain

    playstation backup utility error

    Assassin’s Creed II

    Uncharted 2

    Uncharted 2 Beta

    Unknown

    Valkyrie

    Assassin’s Creed

    Grand Theft Auto IV

    Create Eye

    Eye of Judgment

    Warhawk

    Forgotten

In the list above, I have crossed out all the elements I have created for deletion. After removing these parts, the backup worked. Pay attention to the green apps – they did not cause any problems and were created correctly, I wish I had time to delete them one by one, mainly to identify the problematic file, but at this point I almost assumed 10 attempts save and I was hardly patient. Note that I have submitted a beta of Uncharted 2. I think the dataset you want is probably the cause of the backup failure, although it is possible that most of the other red items are also causing the problem.

    playstation backup utility error

Thus, the total amount increases – a solution to the problem thatI came up with is to erase your game data. You never have to delete all of them, as it is likely that only one entry will remain. origin of the problem. If you want to access Uncharted you have 2 beta demos, please uninstall them as this will definitely cause a problem. Otherwise, choose to not have other demos in the Game Data folder.

Also, if you run into any issue, please post it in the discussion thread below to help others solve the common issue.

EDIT (11/28/2012). This is more than two units after the original message. I’ve read posts and it seems the most common problem is Uncharted 2 and Eyetoy game data. Delete these files first, as they are likely the source of your problem.

I had the same problem and wanted to post the solution here as this is the first result that comes up when you search for some kind of error 800283F0. Hope this helps other people who had the same problem.

Let me give you a little ideabecause I tried and it worked but didn’t work at first.

Like many others, I tried to upgrade my drive from 80GB to 500GB. The problem was that I didn’t want to lose the copy protected videos or saved games that I bought from the PS3 store. I would back up my data. external USB hard drive using a backup utility. It will take 2 hours. Then I would now install a new drive on the PS3 and try to make sure you are restoring data backups from an external USB drive. The process can take another 1 hour and 2 hours if specified to be 100% complete. The following recovery message is displayed:

“The operation could not be completed. The approach will be restarted. (800283F0) “.

First of all – humiliation of Sony. I expect more from business than reporting unnecessary corruption. Is it really so hard to even see the name of a file that cannot be recovered? Or better yet, let me keep a diary of what went wrong? I just lost 4 hours of fun showing nothing.

At first I thought that the reserveCopies can be dangerous, so I tried again. After 4 hours, I looked at the same error message again. Maybe I won’t give up anytime soon, so I always tried it once with a different USB stick. Same problem. For this amount, I searched Google for solutions and met many people with a serious problem. Unfortunately it didn’t seem to me to have anything to do with their related application offerings (the great option didn’t make any sense either). Some people suggested uninstalling PSP, others mentioned restoring factory defaults, erasing sports memories, etc.

I tried several individual suggestions but nothing worked. I will probably still get the same error right after 100% completion. The system will reboot, only some things will be saved (some games and videos, games not running).

I finally decided to start deleting bit by bit before saving collectibles to see what the reason was. I deleted all videos from the PS3 store (I professionally saved them first). It did not help. I deleted a lot of saved games I don’t need. It still doesn’t help. It was then that I stumbled upon advice from someone who encouraged deleting all game data (no account data). I really don’t want to, because reinstalling the entire video game is difficult, but I found I had nothing to lose.

Below is a list of the items I had in the game data folder:

In the above list, I have crossed out all the factors that I wanted to remove. After placing these items incorrectly, the backup worked. Pay attention to the very green files – they caused almost no problems and were copied correctly. I wish I had to delete them all one at a time in order to accurately identify the script file, but at this point I had almost 10 attempts to save or was it in my head. Please note that I marked Uncharted 2 Beta. I believe that a particular dataset is probably the cause of the backup failure, although it is usually possible that one of the other red parts is also the problem.

So to go to the next urAries: Solve the main problem I described, which is deleting your game data. You don’t need to delete all of them, as that’s probably pretty much everything. files that are causing the problem. If you have the Uncharted 2-Beta demo, please uninstall it as it is now most likely the source of the problem. If not, make sure there are no other types of demos in the Game Data folder.

Also, users who want to solve your problem can use this thread to help other people with the same problem.

EDIT (11/28/2012). Much more than two years have passed since the original post was published. I read the posts and it looks like the most common issues are Uncharted 2 and Eyetoy game data. Please delete some files first, they are probably causing the problem.
