Hey I’m playing, launch the Visual Gameboy Advance emulator and when I tried to save my progress I got an error about “Please swap storage for save”. How?

Go to the VBA options, really check the clock, time, go to the same options and go back to the emulator web page. Under “Backup Type”, check the Flash checkbox, look for flash and 128k. When you load a Gen III game on Vba, the memory message “Error: Please update saved memory” appears. If you try to use save, you won’t find any substitute save states.

what you want to do is THIS use for whatever GBA the ROM saves, not for example, good little Save the game options that really should be there, in a pretty neat disc format, you just click on the crap, you’re done. It doesn’t matter if you use an emulator, show off, or transfer your roms to another device.

Not for FireRed and other LeafGreen Gameboy games for Advance pokemon such as Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire. The best ones with our internal battery, old ones for original gameboy/gameboy blue, red, yellow, gold, additions and they are crystals, keep losing saved data.
… Except that it only works with saved new games, just like the method I posted.

The only way to get those savings is to pay for the premium version. So your updates are pretty much gone for now. However, you can save the task itself and not the emulator. I have a lot of fun playing Pokémon on the emulator and the only way to save would probably be via Start > Save.

Well, yes. This is normal, given that you need to restart the purchased file. 😛

Does Leaf Green have an internal battery?
Not FireRed, not even Pokémon Gameboy Advanced games like LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. The real models with internal battery are actually the oldest for real Gameboy/Gameboy color: red, lemon yellow, gold, silver and crystal, companies lose memory data over time.
I knew this step about halfway through the Shiny Gold run. Then I still finished with backups. Not the smartest idea…

No battery. However, Sapphire has exactly the same EEPROM, but with a battery. Of course, Leaf Green and Fire Red do not implement RTC, hence the lack of a large battery (although some things fail far from properly taking or longer, the berries love to grow).
