Presentation

When using Quicken to boot a financial institution’s hard drive to obtain a Mac, you may receive the following message:

Attempt to download from this institution seems to have failed (2001 settings for this important API are invalid (key = account id)). Please try again later.

Reason

This issue can occur if accounts are enabled in Quicken for Quicken Connect but no longer exist on some Quicken servers. This condition can occur when accounts are usually disabled and then you access a copy of a file or fix a backup of a file where the exact accounts were still enabled. Quicken will do its best to log into accounts on all servers and if not, it will return the above error.

Due to this error, you will need to deactivate and reactivate your accounts.

Deactivation Of Affected Accounts:

1. In Quicken, click the name of your account (s) in the toolbartov “Accounts”.
2. click the settings icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. Click the Downloads tab.
4. Click Disable Account.
5. Click Finish.
6. Repeat the above steps for the account until they are all disabled.

Reactivate Accounts For Online Update:

1. Select Accounts> New> Account Type.
2. Enter the name of the bank and click “Next”.
3. Enter the required credentials that will be used to access your profiles, then click Next.
4. To answer all security check questions, etc. your bank needs to connect and click Next.
5. Once Quicken finds your list of accounts, you can link it to existing accounts in Quicken.
   
   • In the main action column, select “Accounts Found” in the window, select the corresponding existing account to help you link it.
   • In the column, enter the correct membership type for each account from the drop-down menus.
6. Once you have linked all the existing data for this bank, click Next and complete the process of activating your corporate accounts. Then click Finish.
7. Repeat these steps for each bank that needs to be reactivated.
