My frustrating Toshiba GB drive failed in my Portege M200.
I started installing a hard drive, my old laptop had a 30GB Hitachi hard drive, but the laptop didn’t recognize itabout. Requires a Toshiba hard drive or a great laptop, when I insert the hard drive I get an invalid boot disk message.
The stale hard drive shows a blue screen and then restarts the laptop.

I just purchased a Portege M750 as my M700 was compromised. Unfortunately, the bays to choose between the two current models are not compatible. Portege 7220 after hard drive replacement
I need a Portege 7220 CTe Windows 98se. The drive is gradually deteriorating (bad sectors), so I decided to set it up. The old drive is a good Toshiba 6GB. New likely to be IBM/Hitachi Travelstar GB 10, including presumably and apparently unused, but dateddated September 1.
Conclusion: The drive only worked once in Portégé, but no longer works. It still works via USB as an interface to another system.
I did the right thing after that. (I don’t know if there’s a group of unimportant details, I just can’t tell which might be important):
– Modern driving with Hitachi Drive Fitness Test. Booting from the CD in the dock worked on Portege. Flawless slice player.
-Back up the image before flashing it to another computer (computer with XP desktop software) using the USB box and print it from Macrium.
-Image obtained later (with the same player) . USB case).
-Run a scandisk under XP and perform defragmentation on the returned drive (no problem, defragmentation is clearly worn out)
-Insert from system XP USB-drive and case etc.
-Reinsert into machine , renovated in Portege and continued.
