    How to get the source of an Ubuntu release?

    Get the source code for the awesome Ubuntu release. There are several ways to obtain basic equipment. There are two main routes described here. If you have Ubuntu installed and you want to make changes to your kernel, use the apt-get methodology (described below) to get the sources.

      Err http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/oneiric-updates/main ncurses-bin i386 5.9-1ubuntu5.1403 Forbidden

    Since the server is not quite ready for replacement yet, I had to find a workaround.

    ubuntu 11.10 apt-get kernel source

    Fortunately, Ubuntu has a suitable repository for older versions, commonly known as old-releases.ubuntu.com.
    To use it, open /etc/apt/sources.list with your preferred text editor (you must be root or use sudo) and replace all occurrences of archive.ubuntu.com or security.ubuntu.com with older versions. ubuntu .com.

      $ sudo apt-get update

    If you still see 404 or 403 errors, make sure your sources are correct. Otherwise, everyone can update the package right now:

      $ sudo apt-get upgrade

    The above solution should definitely work for Ubuntu versions like the older ones, albeit 4.10 (warty), although I couldn’t handle it for security reasons.

    This problem can be avoided by using only LTS (Long Term Support) versions that are supported for one year.

    I am using Ubuntu 11.10. If I type “uname -r” in Terminal, I get:

      3.0.0-15-generic

    I want to allow you to load the kernel as the source for the only version of the kernel that I am using. When I look at kernel.org and then search for kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/, I can only find reference archives named linux-3.0.x.tar.gz. In my m “uname -r” always has an additional “0”.

    Am I looking in the wrong place? Isn’t my core the main core?

    Ubuntu Corns have been modified from the main source to include additional drivers and bug fixes. You can get the code in two ways. Either with the apt-get outlet linux-image- (remember to replace the latest version you require) or from the Ubuntu kernel command Git repositories.

    How to use apt-get to update to the latest kernel?

    Since linux-image-generic necessarily depends on the latest traditional kernel in your distribution, the kernel with the rest of the packages was changed after you ran apt-get upgrade.
