Zebra S4M Error Code Warning Ribbon Empty
Possible cause: inIn thermal transfer mode, ribbon is not inserted or is not inserted correctly.
Possible Cause: In thermal transfer mode, the ink ribbon is detected as opposed to an incorrectly inserted ink ribbon.
Possible Cause: Overheating in transfer mode, the media is limiting the ribbon sensor.
Possible cause:
In some thermal transfer modes, the printer does not recognize the nib even though it has been loaded correctly.

Use a thin flat blade screwdriver to loosen and remove the content sensor top adjustment screw. 4. Lift the Better Media Sensor Assembly out of the slot, then slide it along with the wire cover to reach the outer slot.
1. Print a sensor profile. The word denoting tape exit (denoted by some kind of TAPE) is probably too large, but rather a black area that indicates where your current tape is found.
Possible Cause: If someone is using direct thermal media, the printer is probably waiting for ribbon to load because it is incorrectly configured for thermal mode.

- Display: ALARM RIBBON OUTPUT
- Description: The printer stops and the ALERT light blinks.
- Reasons. Ribbon is not loaded in arctic transfer mode and is not loaded correctly. In thermal mode, the ribbon sensor usually does not recognize that the ribbon is not loaded correctly. In thermal transfer type, the media is blocking the ribbon sensor. In thermal transfer mode, the printer does not recognize the ribbon, although it may be inserted correctly. If you are using thermal transfer media, the printer will wait for the ribbon to load because the thermal transfer mode must not be set correctly.
- Remedy: Insert the ribbon correctly. 1. Load the ribbon correctly. Calibrating the Sensors 1. Load the media correctly. 2. Calibrate the sensors. personality. Print the sensor profile. See “Printing a Sensor Profile” section on page 66. The word “Ribbon Exit” (indicated by TAPE) is probably too high above the black area that primarily indicates where the ribbon is found. 1. CalibrateLoad sensors or download printer sections. See Calibrate Media and Ribbon Sensors to 67 or Load Factory Defaults to 64. Set the printer to direct thermal mode. See “Customizing Application Ribbon Usage” on page 65.

- Announcement: WARNING STRIP EN
- Description: ALERT indicator blinks.
- Reasons. Ribbon is loaded, but the printer is configured for direct thermal mode.
- Workaround: No direct thermal media ribbon required. If you are using direct thermal media, remove the tape unless your company uses it to protect the printhead. This error message does not affect the model. If you are using thermal transfer media that requires ribbon, set the printer to thermal transfer mode. See Adjust Ribbon Usage on page 65.

- Display: PAPER ALERT
- Description: The printer stops and the ALERT light blinks.
- Reasons. The media is not loaded or loaded incorrectly. Displaced media sensor. The printer is configured for intermittent media, but continuous media is considered loaded.
- Remedy: The media is loaded correctly. Check the location of the media sensor. Set the correct media or type, reset the printer for the current media type, and calibrate.
- Code: 04
- Display: ALARM HEAD OPEN
- Description: The printer stops and the ALERT light blinks.
- Causes: The print head is not completely closed. Open head sensor is not working properly.
- Remedy: Close the printhead completely. Replace precision sensor.
- Code: 05
- Display: HEAD TOO HOT WARNING
- Description: The printer stops and the ALERT light blinks.
- Reasons: The print head is clearly overheated.
- Remedy: Allow the printer to cool down. Printing continues automatically when the print head elements have cooled down to a realistic operating temperature.
- Code: 06
- Display: CAUTION COLD HEADS
- Description: The printer stops and a WARNING flashes on the main screen.
- Causes: The print head is overheated. The data sequence of the print head is not correctly connected.
- Remedy: Continue printing until the print head has reached the correct operating temperature. If the error persists, the room may be too cold to print properly. Move the printer to a warmer location. Attention • Turn off the printer (o) before performing this procedure. Otherwise, the print head may be damaged. 1. Turn off the printer (O). pair. Disconnect and reconnect the data cable and printhead. 3. Make sure the connecting cable is fully inserted into the printhead port. 4. Turn on (I) this printer.
