I am using QT 10.2 on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I have installed a52 / ac3 codec which should play AC3 audio in QT. The instructions say to place 1 component in the Library / Component and the other in the Library / Quicktime. The folder system also contains the Library / Components and Library / Quicktime folders. So what are QT components? Are you checking all four files? I put this type of folder in all four folders, but Quicktime still won’t play AVI files with your current DOLBY 5.1 sound. The most important component names are A52Codec.component, which is stored in each component folder, and AC3MovieImport.component, which is located in the Quicktime folder. I can play avi files using VLC, but if I want to make a DVD, I need the sound to work in QT.

The following people need to put these components in the new correct folder. In Finder, click the new Xvid Alpha device. In the main window of this Finder, you should see a file named Xvid_Codec 1.0 alpha.component.
