g.Realtek AC97 AC’97 (abbreviation for Audio Codec ’97) is a standard for viewing audio codecs that is primarily used in motherboards, sound cards, and modems. AC’97 is a sampling rate of 96 kHz for 20-digit stereo and 24 kHz for 20-digit stereo, which are required for multi-channel playback and recording.

AC’97 (Audio Codec also ’97; MC’97 for Modem Codec ’97) is an acoustic codec standard that was developed by Intel Architecture Labs in 1997. The standard was used in motherboards, modems, and sound cards.

The specification includes two types of components and an AC-Link digital interface between them:

    1. AC’97 (DC97) with digital control, integrated into the mainthe same deck of the chipset, and
    2. is an AC’97 audio modem codec, available from several vendors, which usually contains analog components of some type of architecture.

    driver sound ac 97 codec

AC’97 defines a PC as a high quality 16- or 20-bit acoustic architecture with support for 5.1 surround sound. AC’97 supports 96 kHz sampling at 20-bit stereo resolution and correct 48 kHz sampling at 20-bit stereo screen resolution for multi-channel recording and playback.

Integrated smart implementation using AC’97 codec on this motherboard, communication and network speed board, or audio / modem riser.

In 2004, Intel released Intel High Definition (HD Audio Audio), a successor that is no longer backward compatible with AC’97. [1] HD Audio can improve these 15 output channels, but in practice motherboards usually don’t offer more than 8 options (7.1 surround sound).

    Changes

    • Compliance with AC’97 1.x shows operation at 48 kHz sample rate (no extended lineaments set)
    • Compliant with AC’97 2.1 means strheophonic package with advanced features (additional variable bit rate, multichannel, etc.).
    • AC’97 2.2 stands for Enhanced Sound Compatibility, Enhanced Sound Support with Riser and Optional Sony / Philips Digital Interface Format.
    • AC’97 2.3 compliant means extended configuration information and therefore additional support for socket discovery.

AC’97 Revision 2.3 allows the end user to be plug-and-play. This allows the Sense codec to deliver parametric data over the company’s analog interface similar to Intel High Definition Audio.

    AC-Link

AC-Link is a digital connection that connects the DC97 (controller) to common audio codecs. It consists of two wires: a clock frequency 12.288 MHz , a Sync 48 kHz signal, a Reset signal, and two data cables for the current Carry cable. audio history: sdata_out and sdata_in . The first control outputs come from the controller, although sdata_in takes input from the codec. The connection carries a bi-directional download of serial data from the fixedthe specified data transfer rate (12288 Mbps) between this controller and one or more codecs.

Each 12.288 Mbps stream is divided into a 256-bit structure (48 kHz frame rate). For this, a time division multiplexing scheme is used.

    driver sound ac 97 codec

Each frame is divided into 13 slots. The actual first (slot 0) is 16 bits long and consists of valid flags for the remaining slots, but the remaining 240 bits are split into a total of twelve 20-bit slots (slots 1-12) that are used as data slots.

    driver sound ac 97 codec

Slots 1, 2, and 12 are used for data, not audio, and slots 3 through 11 carry up to nine channels of PCM audio. Typically half a dozen channels are used for 5.1 surround sound, and three channels are available for use with the unit. However, slots can be assembled to provide 96 kHz sampling rates for L, R and C channels only.

Low sampling rates (eg 44 to 1 kHz) are implemented using the Controller-So codec handshaking protocol, which ignores data during certain windows. (This containerspine depends on the corresponding codec. Alternatively, the sampling rate conversion is done in the DC97 (controller) or finally in the driver software.)

    Codec Chips

Codec chips have a special ac’97 interface on one side and an analog audio interface on the other. These are usually small square 48-pin ICs (48-pin QFP package). This is D / A and additionally A / D or just D / A.

      Front Panel Connection

Computer motherboards often have a connector to carry microphone and headphone signals to the computer’s front display with a standard color connector. Intel offers a specification for this title; flag assignments are different for Intel High Definition Audio and ac’97 headers. [6]

      Online Support

AC’97 is supported by most operating systems, including Windows and Linux. In DOS, applications connect directly to the hardware audio rather than the operating system, and most DOS products do not support AC’97. Windows 7 64-bit and higher requires an excellent third-party driver to support AC’97. [7]
