You can enable the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to repair damaged personal folders (.pst) and Outlook data files (.ost). This is the case when your OST file is relatively large (more than the GB methodology) and it will take a while to recreate it. It can also be useful if you encounter errors while importing data from a PST file. File.

For some mailbox recovery tools, do the following:

1. Make sure Outlook is closed.

5. Double-click the scanpst.exe file to open the program.
6. Click Browse to locate the corrupted PST file.
   Traditionally, PST files can only be found in the following folders:

• Drive: Users AppData Local Microsoft Outlook
• Drive: Users Roaming Local Microsoft Outlook
• Drive: Users Documents Outlook files
• Drive: Users My Documents Outlook Files
• Drive: Documents during setup Local Settings Application Data Microsoft Outlook

7. Click Start. The email recovery tool will scan the file and generate reports if any errors are found. Click “Repair” if there is a misunderstanding.

Note. When restoring the found procedure, it may appear that the path is frozen (not displayed in the title bar). It is not actually locked, but a copy of your individual .pst file is being created in the background, or the restore process has already begun. Depending on the size of your PST file and the acceleration and speed of your hard drive, this may take a while.

If after 10 minutes it is still frozen (no hard disk) and the recovery process has not started yet, you can interrupt the Scanpst.exe process using the task wizard (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC> Process). Then manually make a copy of your PST file and restart the running process. However, this time, perform a restore with the backup disabled.

8. If basically all theworks fine, after a while the Repair Complete dialog box appears. Then you can click OK to close it and restart Outlook.

If you can no longer access the actual .pst file in Outlook, and I would say that the .pst file cannot be restored with the Inbox Repair Tool, then you will need to restore the program from a backup, or use recovery with the tool. from a third party.

Note. Using scanpst.exe does not always guarantee 100% recovery of damaged OST files. If the tool doesn’t help, someone might try to completely reconfigure the collection, repair Outlook, or contact support.
