I have addressed this issue too recently when setting up my new innovative PFSense-Box. I was able to initiate this from the main menu screen where I pressed options 1 through 8 and tried various pertinent fixes listed in this thread.

The problem finally was that I couldn’t boot after a horrific “boot failure” while editing when my external CD / DVD drive was plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports.

Once I selected the old USB 2.0 port and selected service 3 (booting from a connected device via USB) everything went fine. Trust me

I am seeing a complete problem with a FreeBSD drive where the USB 3.0 port works with USB 2.0 and the drivers don’t know how to help.

The solution is to use the native USB 2.0 port with the USB 2.0 CD / DVD and select option 3 from the Start menu.

If anyone has a better USB 3.0 CD / DVD drive, please test it with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0

Hello, I just restarted pfsense and it will not restart the root placement error message. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is a FreeBSD problem that people can’t do anything about. Use this RELENG_8 replication share and list it as stable FreeBSD releases.

This is probably a FreeBSD issue that we cannot make a decision on. Replicate share RELENG_8 with
and report this to the FreeBSD stable list as well.

Since the musical instrument is indeed recognized and manual input works, this is probably the ideal moment in time.

Or, better yet, he tries, and maybe he fails every second to buy a little time before he fails.

Oh, that reminded me of an issue that I think was discussed recently in one of the FreeBSD USB bootlists that requires a delay. This may be possible (although changing the Earth’s atmosphere is beyond the scope of what we do to really get stuck upstream).

This specified configuration option has been tested and confirmed to be functional. The test board ran 2.0 BETA3 on an LX geode system with an integrated Marvell USBSATA controller.

I had the same problem when mounting a root USB from DVD using pfSense-2.0-BETA4-20100925-1629. Worked well with pfSense 1.2.3.

After kern.cam.boot_delay = 10000 was created in loader.conf and the ISO root filesystem was rebuilt, it was mounted correctly.

I think this should be posted somewhere and users can fix the problem on their own.
This is not a pfSense bug per se.

Yes, I talked a little about this with thompsa a few days ago, our only answer is to hard-code kern.cam.boot_delay, which is available for all higher setups, which makes the startup process 10 seconds delayed at any time. This is undesirable. It’s easy to get out of the vending machine prompt and set it up for anyone who wants to know who has them (no need to recreate my ISO like others mentioned in this ticket). I added a startup troubleshooting page.

As far as we are concerned and able to control, this has been fixed.

I just found out that this matters which still exists with the latest 4g nightly built pfsense 2. Was this script allowed to be builtFree images?

I just ran into this major issue still present in the latest nightly release with 4g pfsense 2 embedded. Is this fixed for inline images?

This is a problem no matter what happens when booting from a USB stick, whether it’s a fully installed or an integrated system. Just paste the above lines into your /boot/loader.conf.local file and the program will work fine.

    • Memstick 2.1.5 and even 2.2.4
    • with or without delay.
    • with two different USB 2.0 old and new generation

I discovered a problem recently, I was using Unetbootin and it was a bad choice.
