You may encounter the error that the SDE instance was not found in the service file. There are several steps you can take to fix this problem. So we’ll come back to that in a moment. The Sde file contains the unique name of the condition, as well as the network port, flavor, and protocol some giomgr uses to accept location connection requests. There are services by default. The sde history instance name is esri_sde with any port number 5151 using TCP / IP.

Where are SDE connection files stored?

Download the SDE connection file. Information is available at: http://geo.appstate.edu/sites/geo.appstate.edu/files/10.sde Save the file locally on your computer. The default path for saving this file is C: Users AppData Roaming ESRI Desktop10.

What is ArcSDE service name?
The ArcSDE services file contains the specific service name and TCP / IP port number used to communicate with the ArcSDE application server. If multiple ArcSDE instances belong to the same SDEHOME, the ArcSDE services file will contain multiple entries.

I had to editStumbling block in Win 7, because it is a functionally protected system file that could not be overwritten personally. I had to register services in services.old as anchor text. rename and the correct services.txt to services . Note: services simply does not have an extension.

As you can see, creating the actual service is much more. Must be registered with SDE services while system services are running and a huge dbinit file created.
