Anyone who regularly reads my blog on this topic knows that I’m a big fan of using dynamic configurations, including SSIS constraint variables, to make my ETL architecture as flexible as possible. However, with all this dynamic behavior, there is a troubleshooting issue. Since variables and parameters cannot have static values (by design), it becomes more difficult to get their work done due to a crash or other erroneous process.
Fortunately, one way to find parameter and variable values when debugging packages in SQL Server Data Tools is to search. Using breakpoints and Window, Locals, many of these variables can be monitored at runtime to identify expected design issues in the package.

There are only two things you need to do toHow to track variables as parameter values for SSIS packages in SSDT:
- Set a package breakpoint to briefly stop execution.

To set a breakpoint for each task or container usage in Cope, simply click on the executable and press F9. When enabled, Windows Locals displays a function of variables, parameters, and other metrics. As shown below, the variable we organize for each file is displayed with its current value. Also notice which wizards set the parameter values, which are also displayed here appropriately.

By setting these parameters, we can preserve the changing values of this aspect when the package is run. When I press F5 to go to the next iteration associated with the loop (which stops again before executing the data stream for the third file), we see,that the value for money variable is passed to the next file. Any values that have changed from the moment of interruption to the continuation of the operation are displayed in red text for easier navigation.

I have a project in SSIS and I added an Execute SQL task that sends the result to a completely new variable. I wanted to validate the value because I was worried that it would definitely be written as a new result set object and not as an integer in the real world (in which case I am returning COUNT).
My first idea was to run it in debug mode and add a globe variable to my viewport. Unfortunately when I right click on the viewportWhen you open it, the new “Add Variable” option outside becomes inactive. What am I missing here?
I almost got confirmation that the variable is set correctly, so I am not interested in methods like inserting a script to create a new MsgBox with a value or anything like that. In the future, I would like to help you track variables in debug mode. If some of them are related to limitations, I would like to know what and why of this type of thing, if anyone knows.
Unfortunately, there is not enough help in this case, and you knew that every “tutorial” I can find simply says “add the variable to the viewport often and also fix it” as if you had it did not have. There was never anyone who should have a problem with this.
