This user guide will help you if you see an event database configuration error.
Updated
If you encounter this error message, you may be having problems connecting to the database. Make sure SQL Server Authentication is selected differently and policy options for enforcing username and password are disabled.
If you receive this error message, it means that someone is having problems connecting to the database. Verify that the SQL Server Authentication setting is set to value and that the password enforcement policy settings are disabled.
When configuring the event database for VMware Horizon View 5.x, you may receive the following error message:
An error occurred while trying to set up the database. Double check the database and settings and make sure no databases are restarted, stopped or inaccessible

The lender also had this problem for a while after taking several steps to resolve it to no avail. Everything you see is normal, ie. Firewall, UAC, database takeover, etc were as expected but everyone was trying to set up the database directly which resulted in a new error message, shown above.
The environment was slightly different from the norm in that SQL (Microsoft 2008 R2) “SQL instances” were configured on the database server. So I checked that the TCP dynamic ports setting is permanently disabled and that the static port is for this instance. Everything was positive too!
Run options I’ve looked at the order of entries in the database. Should be set to “case sensitive”, i.e. H Latin1_General_CS_AS. As far as I can tell it should have looked like it was set to “case sensitive” i.e. Latin1_General_CI_AS, so the database was dropped and rebuilt from scratch using that ranking. When the setup was complete, I tried again and it worked right away!
Sorting isn’t just something you watch the most, which is why this article is. It can run if you didn’t configure anything to create the database at the time it was created, a procedure in which the database is created with all the mappings defined on the server. This sort probably won’t be what you want. Of course, everything can be real. m a bug, in addition to what is done manually or through a post-create script. In any case, the solution is to create a database with a case-insensitive collation.
I hope this helps!

When configuring the event database in VMware View Horizon 5.x, you can seeThere is a correct error message:
An error occurred while trying to set up the database. Check your client base and settings to make sure the database is not restarted, stopped, or otherwise inaccessible
png?fit=346%2c140&ssl=1
The client has been experiencing this issue for some time and has tried various methods to resolve it to no avail. All the usual essentials, eg. Firewall, UAC, database ownership, etc. were all as expected, but all attempts to set up the resulting database resulted in the above error message.
The environment was slightly different in that one person’s database server uses SQL (Microsoft 2008 R2) to set up “SQL instances”. So I double checked which TCP ports have dynamic settings disabled and static ports configured for the instance. Everything was good in other places too!
I checked the collection mapping for the database by running parameters. Was removed if you want “case sensitive”, i.e. H Latin1_General_CS_AS. From what I knew, it was supposed to be the Case to Insensitive package, i.e. Latin1_General_CI_AS, so the database was practically deleted and recreated, again using a sort. After that, the configuration was tried again, and it immediately worked!
Sorting is not something you usually pay attention to, as in this post. This can happen if the person does not commit anything to the database at initiation. In this case, the data store is created with the comparison defined for the server. This rating may not be what you want. Also, it’s obvious that this could be a real bug linked manually or via a script when creating it. In any case, the patch will be recompiled on the site with case-insensitive sorting set.
I hope for your help!
