I was cleaning an old computer and recently ran into this problem:
Windows. If the firewall is not enabled and you are trying to enable it, press
. acted
“Unable to view Windows Firewall settings because the associated service is not running. Would you like to start the Windows Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service? ”
I click Yes and the program says, “Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service.”
So far I’ve tried methods 1 and 2 on the Microsoft site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920074
(even if it didn’t start due to SP2 installation)
Reinstalled (I do not buy SP3 with SP2 reinstalled because SP3 usually covers this) <--- If this is a problem, I am ashamed.
I also searched for cmd winsock> netsh reset (recommendationI’m from the new forum)
I tried to start Windows Firewall / Enable Internet Connection (ICS) under Administrative Tools> Services> Windows Firewall / Enable Internet Connection (ICS) but unfortunately it says Stop … This happens with “back” “The Windows Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Core Service could not be started on the local computer.” Error 2: The system cannot access through the specified file. ”
I think this is currently the reason that the Internet is not working on the computer. I have done a lot of work on the computer and, if necessary, I can also list everything I have done so far. Currently I couldn’t solve this problem on my own and it started after executing malicious bytes and deleting everything it found.
Difficult to say, but this is 32-bit Windows XP. All you need to know is just ask. Even if I have to repeat what I have already done because of a missed path or something similar, I will choose that.

After updating this system, the guy still did a Windows repair, and from that day on we have BSOD after the general Windows boot screen, code 0x07E and restarting the computer. When I boot into Safe Mode, I get the message “Windows XP Setup cannot run in Safe Mode.” The installation will restart. “

Well, this system was reformatted because they didn’t have that at the time. However, he solved the problem in an aggressive way. Unfortunately, we were unable to fix this to help someone in the future.
