I have a new Mac (M1 Mini) and this is what the real animal surface looks like. It spits out Lua errors, but I popped them out. And no, I haven’t installed any add-ons, so don’t be late! At first I thought that I copiedshaft my windows installation or did a scan / repair to make it easier to boot, so I uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch, but it’s the same. I also thought that maybe it’s because there won’t be an SL expansion, but there won’t be my traditional MB Air.

There is a category in the 8.3 known issues article that looks like a simple performance barrier, but it’s a bigger bug than this one. And while we often joke about the problems that make a game “unplayable”, this type of WoW makes it truly unplayable – at least for a certain segment of Mac gamers with powerful Intel graphics cards.

This simple description does not solve the problem. Since the release of patch 8.3, many Mac users have experienced freezes, borrower and computer crashes, including kernel panic. They often crash no matter what you do in the game. It seems to work fine on Windows if you have the time, technical know-how, and hardware to set it up.

But “future Mac clients should install Windows” is a poor troubleshooting solution. This is such a hideous bug change that it looks like it was typed by an internet troll telling people on Mac that they would have a Windows PC if they wanted to be “real” gamers.

We don’t hear this from internet trolls. Instead, we hear from a large multi-billion dollar company that sold us a video that officially supports MacOS. This is a daunting task for longtime Mac users – I’ve been playing WoW on Mac for a good 15 years – who have been cut off from the game since it got an 8.3 rating.

So what should a Mac owner do? I said that you can install Windows whenever you have the time (and hard drive space). It’s also important that you can report any issues you organize to Blizzard. This error seems to beis difficult to detect, and other reports with specific details about the text you generated when your client disconnected can help developers pinpoint the situation. If you have a Mac with a drive and a great Intel graphics card is crashing, head over to this thread and share your nightmare as much as possible ™. It won’t hurt.

You shouldn’t always insult Blizzard employees on a particular issue. They want to fix it as often as you do, and yelling at one of them won’t help you get it done any faster.

When we reported this bug in general, we previously researched our QA staff to see who it was and they helped us find some situations where failures occurred. Was this what we were trying to fix with the above fix? Unfortunately, the problem goes deeper than we originally identified. On behalf of all of us who care about Blizzard, I wanted to apologize to everyone who somehow youthfully clings to the thread. We thought that my wife and I had fixed the problem, we screwed it up and went back to the sucking board.

Without getting into technical details, we took more time to reproduce things with QA, try more problems, and make more code changes to fix the problems we found since our first fix attempts. However, none of our tweaks have been successful enough (as the branch suggests), so we generally don’t recommend retesting things just yet. If we could share better news directly, we would, but the best consumers can really tell you that some of us have people actively trying to unravel this complex thread.
