You might think netbooks are something extreme right now, with more and more better quality tablets coming out every week. But that’s still not true, these mini laptops still need advantages over tablets and should remain the best and cheaper performance devices, at least for now.

You probably know that this fall we are seeing some changes in the highest marks. First, AMD recently announced a more efficient Fusion processor for mini laptops, the C-60 (designed for 10 inches) and E-450 (designed for nettops, not mini laptops, although there are exceptions).
The C-60 was a 1.33GHz dual-core processor and a 400MHz Radeon 6200 graphics card. So we get 33% and 50% recovery of the CPU clock speed and then the GPU through the C-50.
Intel is also working on its new Cedar Trail Atom platform. They have announced groundbreaking new processors due to appear in notebooks this fall, with the Atom N2800 being essentially the fastest. Typically 1.86GHz dual core processor, 3MB cache, HT and improved design, it is now DirectX 10.1 compliant and supports HD (MPEG2, VC1, AVC and H.264) decoding to support Blu-Ray 2.0 … HDMI 1.3a and several different displays.
However, the CedarTrail platform is not much different from the current PineTrail platform that each of us has on the process Computers such as the Atom N570. You can see this in several benchmarks currently available to the folks at Blogeee.net comparing the new N2800, the Atom N570, and the AMD E-450 APU. Of course, since there is no settlement agreement between them and the newer AMD Fusion processor, it would be nice to compare them to the AMD C-60. Unfortunately, I did not run PCMark 05 at 1015B and could not find results for the C-50 on the Internet (maybe because it is only 1 processor, 0 GHz?). However, you probably expect the AMD APU to score 13-20 points less, depending on how it differs from many CPU benchmarks.
For graphics, we need 3DMark results below:
- Atom 06, N2800 – 440 points
- Atom N570 – 144 points
- AMD C-50 – 1790 points
- AMD E-450 – 2876 points
The C-50 is clearly the winner here. We have excludedE-450 from our reviews because it plays in a different league. B
Overall, the Atom N2800 appears to be slightly faster than current PineTrail Atoms, with the GPU performing three times better in these benchmarks. Take this grain salt guy, however, and they were built on test benches, not the latest products. In terms of graphics, the N2800 definitely lags behind the current AMD C-50. And if you have a C-60 right around the corner, you shouldn’t consider that when it comes to sheer processor power.
In fact, the new Cedar Trail Atom only wins in tdp: it doesn’t need as much power as its AMD counterparts, with a TDP of just 6.5W (9W versus AMD). Thus, the N2800 should last longer and have less cooling, which definitely makes it a suitable processor for ultra-thin fanless devices.
In the end, though, based on these early tests, if you want to compete in the new 10 this fall, the AMD C-50 / C-60 will keep your best choices, which is a good overall experience, plus the ability to run written content. 1080p and some games.
The Atom N2800 also provides Full HD playback, but not only that, and it should be found in ultra-thin and portable devices that can handle everyday tasks quite quickly, there are differences between netbooks and tablets and we will find affordable devices. are similar to Samsung’s 7 Series, which start with Windows and Meego (or maybe even Android) and last over 10 hours on each charge. However, after the internalAtom D2700 mini processor I’m looking for a laptop that’s particularly powerful than the N2800, as benchmarks in this other article show, but overall it offers decent battery life.
