I really want to run my RMI server program in Eclipse 3.2.1 with JVM 1.5.0_07 and send some of the following arguments to the virtual machine -Djava.rmi.server.codebase = file: / CHIP /. I get an error immediately after running on my local machine.

CHIPserverImpl: java.rmi.ServerException: A RemoteException occurred on the server thread; others nested:
java.rmi.UnmarshalException: argument splitting error; stacked exception:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
I ran rmiregistry … I think my codebase argument is correct. Helpful advice what could be wrong [?

Typically what experts call an error occurs when one of the virtual machines cannot find the class needed to process the serialized data. Are you using both virtual machines on the same device? Otherwise, you probably don’t want to use CODEBASE with a list of URIs.

RMI first looks for the classpath of the virtual machine and then checks for CODEBASE.

Check the runtime as the classpaths are used for both VMs, and will convinceMake sure that all the classes you pass between two specific virtual machines exist (don’t forget the classes mentioned in the other instructions).

I am currently running virtual machines on the same machine to test applications. How can I check the classpath c Runtime for a virtual machine? I’m not sure how Eclipse builds it based on my settings, but another friend runs the example and that person set up their environment with the same policy as me, with the same virtual machine argument.

This error usually occurs when you cannot find the class in the virtual machines that is required to replace the serialized data. Are you both working on a shared vms machine? Otherwise, you probably don’t want to use CODEBASE with a starting URI.

RMI first looks for the present in the virtual machine classpath, then checks for CODEBASE.

Check out the runtime designed for the classpaths on both VMs and make sure the experts claim that all the classes you pass between the two VMs are present (don’t skip classes from the other tutorials mentioned).

It turned out that I had incorrectly set the codebase property (-Djava.rmi.server.codebase) … Maybe I shouldn’t go deeper into Java / Eclipse and RMI at the same time

Obviously there is some magic in the Eclipse scenes that I honestly don’t understand.

After setting up and running the other day, I changed the build path accordingly (adding and removing some sites and libraries for uploading sources) and it worked again with the same error.

I finally solved the ENCORE problem by changing the codebase argument from:
-Djava.rmi.server.codebase = file: / java / bin / to
-Djava.rmi.server. codebase = file: k: / java / bin /

All I did was almost certainly set the full path to the Evasion output folder in Eclipse (k: / java / bin) instead of java / bin

Does anyone know why this has changed? My .project and .classpath files in k: / java are the root of the shared project.
