On Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education, you can use a Group Policy Object (GPO) to provide a personalized and reliable launch and taskbar layout for domain subscribers. Reimaging is not required and the layout can usually be updated by overwriting the .xml file with the layout. This allows you to customize launcher and taskbar layouts for different domains or organizations with minimal administrative effort.

Here’s how to update the Group Policy terms so that custom launcher and taskbar layouts are displayed when users sign in. By creating a domain-based GPO with these, you can provide a custom boot, and therefore a dashboard layout, to serve users in that domain.

Operating System Requirements

In Windows 10, version 1607, launch controls and taskbar layout are supported through Group Policy in Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education. In Windows 10, 1703, the boot version and control of the taskbar layout using Group Policy are also supported. in Windows 10 Pro.

A GPO can be configured from any computer using the required personal ADMX and ADML entries (StartMenu.admx and StartMenu.adml) for Windows 10. Use Group Policy To Apply Custom Layout To A Specific Local Computer

   Important

   If you disable the policy settings for the launch layout and re-enable the policy, users will not be able to configure the launch settings. However, the layout in the XML file is not reapplied. The file has been updated. You can update the timestamp from a file in Windows PowerShell by running the command after:

Update Your Own Initial Layout

When the full launch layout is used in conjunction with this method, users will not be able to pin, unpin, or potentially remove applications from the launch.
